Welcome to Kid Crew!


It has always been my desire as a professional to offer services that will have personal impact in families’ lives. I have never wanted to be the therapist who does “speech therapy” in a separate, blank room with learning cards.  Communication is shared between people in families, friendships, and the community. It is meant to be personal, relevant, and meaningful to everyone engaged.


This belief has influenced my philosophy on how to facilitate improved communication in children. Treatment should focus on providing children with the needed tools to access current and future relationships in their family, school, work environment, and community.  For this to be the case, I believe intervention should engage in the settings of “Creative Recreation” and the “Everyday World.”  Many have noted that children do not have the opportunity to create in their  play and lives, given the many environmental and time constraints we live with today.  Children participate in more structured activities and academic support programs, rather than being encouraged in creative pursuits that nurture flexibility, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. Furthermore, I’ve often had a parent say to me, “I can’t get my child to clean up or do any chores like I used to do as a child.” Many have observed the change in the culture of parenting, as the dynamic has moved from teaching your child to engage in the adult world in small, increasingly expanding ways, to entertainment being the primary goal.


My mission is to facilitate improved communication by supporting the family dynamic to incorporate their child in these settings and see how joy is found in shared experiences with one another. Not only will greater connection be felt by all family members with each other, but children will come to see their role is to learn to become competent, caring adults.
